Through the generosity of the Williamsburg community and the efforts of over 200 volunteers, FISH provides food, clothing, and small housewares to persons in need who live in Williamsburg, James City County and York County.
About FISH
Mission
FISH, located in Williamsburg, Virginia, is an all-volunteer nonprofit agency providing food, hygiene items, clothing, and basic housewares assistance to residents in need in the Greater Williamsburg area since 1975. FISH depends solely upon the generosity of a caring community for volunteers, donations of goods for our clients, and financial support. FISH serves its clients regardless of their race, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or age.
Beyond the "footprint" of our facility, FISH also:
- Delivers food monthly to several local hotels for 80+ families who would otherwise be homeless. We also provide crockpots and basic kitchen utensils to these families coordinated through GWOM (Greater Williamsburg Outreach Mission) and partnered with From His Hands.
- Contributes to the Summer Meals for Kids program. Partnering with Williamsburg Area Meals on Wheels and coordinating through GWOM, FISH provides daily meals during the summer for 200 homeless and low-income children at various locations across Greater Williamsburg.
- Provides healthy snacks to the Individualized Student Alternative Education Program (ISAEP, better known as the GED study program).
- FISH actively seeks ways to help the community.
